Cecile Marianne van Welie Saint-Amand, known as Cecile van Welie, is a Dominican actress. She was born in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, and graduated from the Comunidad Educativa Conexus. With Dominican parents of Dutch and Arab descent, Cecile has a rich cultural background that enhances her work. She began acting at the age of 8, starring in a school play, and discovered her passion for performance. That same year, her parents enrolled her in the Amaury Sanchez Artistic Training Academy, where she remained until she was 12, performing in various theater productions. Her dedication and hard work at the Academy paid off when she was offered an audition for the Dominican film Todos los hombres son iguales (All Men Are the Same). From that moment on, Cecile has been committed to building her career in the film industry. Among her most notable works is her leading role as Sara in the film Carajita, which received multiple awards worldwide, including a Special Mention at the San Sebastián Film Festival and Best Film honors at the Miami Film Festival, the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, and others. For this role, Cecile earned nominations for the La Silla Awards and the ADOPRESCI Awards in the Best Leading Actress category. Today, Cecile continues to work in film, with projects in preparation and production, further advancing her artistic future and growth as an actress.
