Dias Gomes and Marcílio Moraes' version of the soap opera of the same name by Janete Clair shown in 1970, Irmãos Coragem features as central characters João (Marcos Palmeira), Jerônimo (Ilya São Paulo) and Duda (Marcos Winter), three brothers who threaten the dominance of the powerful farmer Pedro Barros (Cláudio Marzo), the highest authority in the fictional Coroado, in the interior of Minas Gerais, where the story is set.
Adapted from the homonymous work by Rachel de Queiroz, it presents the saga of a woman against female submission in nineteenth-century patriarchal society.
The series tells the story of a criminal investigation into the murder of businessman Paulo Gomes de Aguiar at the beginning of August. In the midst of the Vargas government crisis, the murder case is taken by police commissioner Alberto Mattos, an honest and incorruptible man who is not well regarded by his co-workers, as the place is totally turned over to corruption.
