An autoportrait from João Victor Montuori in a short-film format made for the 10th IFA Film Directing Masterclass with Ruben Östlund. Each student selected made their own video based on five questions with one and a half minutes limit. João used a mix between footage from his previous films and footage made especially for the autoportrait.
Brazilian filmmaker João Victor Montuori was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He most recognized works are INTERVENTIONS AND INTERFERENCES (2023), I Want, I Can't, I Won't (2023) and Las Flores Del Campo Santo (2025), all of them being screened in Europe, South America and North America. 26th Kinoarte Film Festival, 1st Athens Film Festival, 1st MUYUNA Fest, II Maravíllame are among the festivals his films were screened at. In 2023, he was the only latin-american selected for the IFA Masterclass in Film Directing with Ruben Östlund, where he wrote, directed and edited I Want, I Can't, I Won't. In the next year, 2024, he returned for the Masterclass, now with Andrey Zvyagintsev as a teacher. Months later, was part of the Nouvelle Bug Vol. 3, hosted by Lago Film Fest. He also studied in ESCAC, one of the 15 best film schools in the world by The Hollywood Reporter. During his time in the film school, he Las Flores Del Campo Santo. João is currently in production stage of his new short, Once Upon a Time In The Urinals... Other credits as director includes Banca Tatuí (2024), The Divine Routine (2017), Tarantula (2019) and Black in White (2018).
