Hokkaido, Japan: An old woman -- formerly a man -- lives by a lake in the northern reaches of Japan, gazing at Nakajima Island in its center where her daughter's body was found long ago. She hasn't been able to visit for almost 50 years. Tokyo: A middle-aged man lives on an island where criminals were once exiled in the past, earning a sparse living as a cattle herder. He is descended from such exiled criminals. He raised his only daughter by himself after losing his wife in an accident. One day, the daughter comes home from the mainland, seemingly pregnant but unwilling to explain.
Set in Kyoto, Japan, a love story takes place between Hajime and Reika. Hajime is a handsome young man, who is usually a second quicker than everyone else and straightforward. He works at the post office. Reika is a young woman, who is usually a step slower than everyone else. After Valentine's Day, Hajime wakes up and is unable to remember what happened that day.
Sato, a young woman from a modest family, marries Kenta, a young man from a well-to-do and respected family. She settles in the family's home, where she meets the father, Keiichi, a strict man, Mihoko, the unfriendly sister-in-law and Akito, the elder brother. Although not everyone sees the union of Kenta and Sato in a very good light, the father seems to have great plans for our heroine.
A school appears peaceful from a distance, but a fierce gambling battle takes place once again. Yumeko Jabami is involved in the battle.
Matsumoto Kiyo debuted in 2014, appearing in the movie “Fatal Frame,” and went on to appear in the music video for the Official HIGE DANdism song “I Love You…” in 2015. She transitioned into drama acting in 2017, when she starred in “Code: M.” More recently, she has appeared in the movie “Chiwawa” (2019) and the drama series “In Time With You” (2019).
