The narrative is built in chronological order: from 1992, when the first film was released, where "Russia" was listed in the output data instead of "USSR", to the present. Directors, actors and producers will share their memories of the path in Russian cinema. Among them are Fyodor Bondarchuk, Gosha Kutsenko, Evgeny Tsyganov, Zhora Gooseberry, Pyotr Buslov, Elena Lyadova, Vladimir Khotinenko, Valeria Guy Germanika, Sergey Selyanov, Egor Konchalovsky and many others.
Stories from the life of three cohabitants who, while solving everyday conflicts, find themselves drawn into absurd situations: an alien invasion, rivalry with an ancient Egyptian god, space flight, escape from the underworld, and even the arrest of the real Santa Claus.
In order to get the opportunity to make his first film, the aspiring director Maxim is forced to agree with the producer's comments and make censored changes to his script. Yes, it will be a completely different movie, but it will be. Returning home, Maxim discovers an extremely unusual phenomenon: instead of a mat in speech, he hears a piercing "piiip", and instead of naked body parts — black "patches" and a fuzzy image. And even alcohol has lost its taste and degree. It seems that Maxim has become the main source of censorship for himself.
Eight friends, they are already in their forties, but in many ways they are still like children: in their free time from their successful careers, they play football, go to the cinema in a big company, live for their own pleasure. But when Igor's heart fails, and he loses consciousness right on the street, he decides at all costs to "give" his wife a child. There is only one catch: Igor cannot have children. Yuri Bykov was born in 1981 in Novomichurinsk, a small town in the Ryazan region of Russia. Coming from a family of factory workers, he studied acting in the famous VGIK (Institute of Cinema named after Gerasimov) and appeared in various theatres of Moscow after receiving his diploma in 2005. In 2006, Yury Bykov started to write and direct his first short films. In 2009, his short film “The Boss”, in which he also played the lead role, won the main prize at the All-Russian National film festival Kinotavr. In 2010, Bykov directed his first feature film, “Live!”, Special Jury Prize at Taipei International Film Festival. In 2013, his second feature, “The Major”. was selected in Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2014, “The Fool” received important awards at the festivals of Locarno (Best Actor Leopard, Ecumenical Jury Prize, Junior Jury Award, First Prize) and Les Arcs, among many others. Both “The Major” and “The Fool” enjoyed international theatrical releases. Yury Bykov both writes and directs his films. He has also edited and scored his early projects, as well as playing one of the lead roles in “The Major”.
