Ronald asked Thankam for some food to satisfy his hunger; however, she declined his request due to a dispute with Cleatus, which resulted in the spices she was sautéing being burned. Subsequently, Thankam's creditor, Sister Savitri, visited her to collect the money owed, but Thankam was unable to repay the debt as Cleatus had taken the funds.
