EMPEROR JIAQING becomes infuriated after realising MAN-HO's real identity. While Lady YIM is burning incense for worship, a little golden pagoda is struck by a lightning bolt, and the remains of a baby are discovered, which links to Lady SHUN's hidden secret of switching her late newborn with another one. Just as Lady YIM is getting carried away after learning about the secret, Emperor JIAQING appears and reiterates that they should keep it secret because it is embarrassing, eventually putting the two noble consorts to death. Right in front of the late Lady SHUN's coffin, MAN-HO and MAN-JING are so sad that they break out in tears.
