YAT states in court that KAI was in a state of confusion after suffering a stroke. According to YAT, KAI had mixed up two traditional Chinese festivals and asked to have a bite of a mooncake during the Dragon Boat Festival. To satisfy KAI, YAT was left with no choice but to turn to the CHEUKS, who run a Chinese tea restaurant, for help. One of LAI’s family members testifies for YAT and emphasizes that what he says in his statement is absolutely true. SUM blames YAT and the CHEUKS for providing false statements. She goes on to point out that, according to the records provided by Hong Kong’s Immigration Department, YAT was in Australia for about ten days around the Dragon Boat Festival and that what he said in his previous statement is just a pack of lies.
