CHAI orders an investigation into the matter. TAN is afraid that the truth will out sooner or later and thus asks SZE to take the blame for her. Fearing that LAI, who passed the medicinal herb to TAN, will get caught in trouble as well, SZE is going to tell a lie. She explains to CHAI that she had put the medicinal herb somewhere, which was later grabbed by the maids and mixed into the tea prepared for CHI. SZE asks CHAI to forgive all the parties concerned and CHAI agrees to her request. CHI is going to ask SZE for an explanation but before she does so, she happens to discover that SZE has had a higher status than her.
