TAN admits to SZE that she has had a miscarriage again. Having lost her second baby, TAN is so afraid that she will be driven out of the palace. She reveals everything to SZE and begs her to keep it a secret. TAN points out to SZE that LAI and TSIN have fallen out and that Yuet is doomed to perish. SHUI tries to sow discord between SZE and TSIN, through which he hopes he can unmask their real intentions. SZE holds a birthday banquet for SHUI in the palace.
